What Is World Time?

This tool compares the current time and time differences for major cities around the world on one screen. Quickly check favorite cities, compare working hours on a shared timeline, convert times between two cities, and view day and night conditions on a world map.

  • Simultaneous current-time display for major cities
  • Selected-city comparison on a shared timeline
  • Time-difference and date-shift calculation between two cities
  • Current local time for cities on a world map
  • Day and night display based on the Sun's current position
  • Browser storage for preferred cities and display format

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The tool automatically determines daylight saving time from the selected date and each city's time zone, so it reflects seasonal changes in the time difference.

If the time-zone difference crosses midnight, the result appears on the previous or next day. Check both the converted local date and time on the Time Difference tab.

The cities and time display settings selected in Quick View are saved in your current browser and persist on your next visit. Clearing browser data may reset them.

The day and night regions are calculated from the Sun's current position. This is a visual reference and is not a substitute for precise sunrise or sunset data.

Add the relevant cities to the timeline and set working start and end times to compare each city's working hours on a common scale.

Tips

  • Before an international meeting, add each participant's city to the timeline and find where everyone's working hours overlap.
  • For a future event, select the actual meeting date on the Time Difference tab so daylight saving time is applied accurately for that date.
  • Keep only the cities you check often in Quick View to compare local times at a glance, even on mobile.
  • For regions near the International Date Line, check the previous- or next-day indicator as well as the time.
  • When planning a trip, use the map and timeline together to see intuitively whether it will be day or night at your destination.
